Geoconferences

Geoconferences (WA) was incorporated in 1987. This non-profit association comprises committed volunteers dedicated to the promotion of geoscience, in particular Precambrian geology, by arranging conferences, symposia and other meetings. Surplus funds are used to develop the careers of young geoscientists and promote the study and understanding of Western Australian geology, by providing travel grants and supporting earth science education opportunities, where possible.

Our vision

To facilitate the exposure of the Western Australian geoscientific community and general public to innovative ideas, knowledge and technology that have the potential to influence our understanding of the State’s geology and its successful mineral exploration.

We recognise the positive impact that a diversity of perspectives brings to scientific discussion and innovation and endeavour to organise inclusive events that value and foster diversity within the WA geoscience community.

Code of Conduct

Geoconferences WA aims to ensure that our events are safe, inclusive, and respectful forums that invite participation from across the geoscience community regardless of nationality, age, race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, ethnicity, marital status, political affiliation, or culture. Geoconferences WA committee members and all event participants including, but not limited to delegates, speakers, and other guests are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct.

  • Geoconferences WA will not tolerate any form of harassment, bullying, direct or indirect discrimination.
  • All participants are to be treated with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.
  • Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.
  • Communication will be fair and open and should be appropriate for people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert the Conference Committee if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
  • If you are subject to unacceptable behaviour or have witnessed any such behaviour, please immediately notify a Conference Committee member.
  • Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately.
  • Geoconferences WA reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future event.
