Year: 2001
Venue: Perth, Western Australia
Travel report by Dr Nikolai Kudryashov & Dr Dmitry Zozulya
We would like to thank the JH Lord Travel Grant Program and other sponsors for financial support to attend the 4th International Archean Symposium held in Perth, Western Australia, on 24-28 September 2001. As was noted, the Russian delegation was not populous. We think it was a great idea to support Russian scientists and we were proud to present the Russian Archean geological community at the symposium.
We benefited greatly from scientific presentations made during the Symposium. We have broadened our “Archean” knowledge not only on different geologic units but also on the genetic problems. The most exciting aspect was becoming acquainted with the advanced analytical techniques used in some laboratories. We had many interesting and fruitful discussions with prominent geoscientists from Australia, Canada, USA, Brazil, India and other countries.
The highlighted problems of Archean geology, geochronology and mineralisation are of great importance and we would like to take an active part in their decision in next ten years. We hope to meet all “archeafriends” at the 5th IAS!
DZ thanks the colleagues from the Geological Survey of Western Australia and the Department of Minerals and Energy for discussions, and data and information provided by them on subjects of mutual interest.
Sincere thanks to the organisers of the Symposium for help solve transportation problems between Russia and Australia.
