Travel report by Des Lascelles
The opportunity to attend the 4th International Archean Symposium proved to be of considerable benefit in at least two ways.
Firstly, the exercise of reducing my thesis on to a poster and supporting it in discussions proved to be very valuable, both in preparing a paper for publication and in giving an interview for a German radio station. It helped me to focus on the essential points.
Secondly, I had the opportunity to hear many excellent talks on a wide range of topical research that proved to be both interesting and educational.
I met old friends, made new contacts, and had some useful discussions that gave me new ideas and directions for my research.
I wish to thank the organisers for their efforts in producing such a first-class gathering, despite considerable difficulties due to the world situation at the time, and for the financial assistance (JH Lord Travel Grant) that enabled me to attend the symposium.
