Travel report by Melissa M. Hage
Dear Dr. Ho,
I have recently returned home from attending the 5th International Archean Symposium held in Perth, Western Australia and I had a fantastic time! I benefited greatly from being able to present and discuss my research with the top people in my field. I had numerous conversations with other graduate students, as well as more senior faculty, about issues I was having with interpreting some of my data, which resulted in the resolution of several problems. Listening to the oral presentations sparked new ideas for data analysis and interpretation of my current research, as well as for future research directions. I hopefully made some new contacts that will prove to be useful in the future, either as a collaborator or potential post-doc advisor. I feel that my current research has greatly benefited from my attendance of this conference, which would not have been possible without the financial support from the JH Lord Travel Grant. I want to thank Geoconferences and the JH Lord Travel Grant Scheme for their support and look forward to attending the next International Archean Symposium.
