Travel Report by Francois Voute
I would like to thank Geoconferences (WA) Inc. and the JH Lord Travel Grant for its financial support which allowed me to attempt the 13th SGA Biennial Meeting in Nancy (France) from the 24th to the 27th of august (2015).
Based on a format of 15 min talk followed by 5 min questions, the presentation has been given in the scientific session 2 (Porphyry and epithermal deposits).
The content of the talk was the results of my MSc project about the “Turret gold deposit an example of atypical gold mineralization in the Agnew-Mt. White district, Western Australia”. This project has been funded by Agnew Gold Mining Company (Gold Fields Australia) and supervised by Dr. Nicolas Thebaud from the Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET).
As a lucky circumstance, this presentation has been given closely after the publication of the results in the international journal Mineralium Deposita (Volume 50. Number 6. August 2015). I have received some very positive comments as well as important feedbacks from specialists of gold deposits such as Dr. Walter Witt, Prof. Steffen Hagemann, Prof. Pasi Eilu and Prof. Jeremy Richards.
Attending such internal conference was a good opportunity to promote Western Australian academic research as well as delineate exploration targets for under-explored styles of Au and base metal resources in Western Australia.
